PARENT HANDBOOK 2015-2016

J.A.D.S Children Center Inc. would like to thank you for entering our small family and for trusting us with the educational and physical development of your child.

J.A.D.S. Children Center Inc. is a place where children get the education, caring and attention needed daily. We focus on the five stages of development: language, physical, social, emotional and cognitive to help your child learn the fundamentals needed when they start school.
Our business is more than just a place where parents can entrust their children to caring individuals. It is a place where a child can get “Parental love and Professional care”.  At J.A.D.S Children Center Inc. children, ages 3 months to 4 years of age will get individualized care, and daily education reinforcement. Our goal is to foster early childhood development in helping children grow emotionally, socially and physically at their pace. We tailor our program to accommodate the needs of the individual child.

If contact is not made, and the hour is very late, the center is advised to call a report of Child Abuse and Maltreatment into the NYS Central Registry AND LEAVE CHILD AT THE LOCAL PRECEINT.

PARENT POLICY
It is easier for the child to get accustomed to being in class if the parent comes in with the child, signs the child in, assist the child in removing their coats/jackets and then says goodbye to their child.

For the first week we ask that you reduce your time in the class as the week goes on. The first day we ask you stay 10 min, the 5min then 3min etc…By the second week the child should have established some of a routine. When you linger in the class it is both distracting to the other children and makes it difficult for the child to adjust.

A parent can always call the center to check in on their child throughout the day.

We have open door policy; you can visit at any time during the day providing that it does not disturb the classroom schedule.

Parents can call and arrange to meet with their child’s teacher to discuss the child’s progress in class or just attend the quarterly parent teacher nights.

Please make sure you check the parent communication board daily in the reception area. You can also go on jadschildrencenter.blogspot.com FOR NEWSLETTERS and updates on JADS_INC@twitter.com

You are not allowed to stay in class longer than 5 minutes. It is disruptive for the teacher and for the child.
Visitors Policy:
J.A.D.S Children Center Inc. wants the safest environment for the children.
We ask that each visitor abide by the following rules.
Everyone who is not a staff member or parent must sign in and out as well as stating the reason for your visit in the visitor’s log book.
No one is allowed to just come in and stay at the center unless you are staff.
All utility and service people must sign in and out of daycare.
Staff is not allowed to bring anyone into the center unless it has been approved by directors.
All therapists must get approval to conduct therapy at the center from directors prior to starting and must sign in and out.

ABSENCE POLICY:

1. If your child is going to be absent you must call the center and inform the front desk by 9:30am.
2. If your child is out for three or more consecutive days, your child cannot return to J.A.D.S Children Center Inc.until we have received a medical notice clearing the child to return to school.
3. If your child has a communicable disease i.e.: chicken pox, lice, pink eye etc. you must contact J.A.D.S within 24hrs and cannot return until doctor clears them to return.
4. If you are going on vacation, or your child will be out for a significant amount of time not related to illness you must inform center.

BIRTHDAY POLICY AND PROCEDURES:
Your child is allowed to celebrate his or her birthday in the classroom. However, there are certain procedures that must be followed:
1. You must inform the teacher of the exact date so that we can arrange for it accordingly.
2. If you are bringing in party bags, there must be one for each child in the class. You must ask the teacher how many bags you should bring prior to the date of the party.
Party bags cannot contain small toys because they are a choking hazard.
You cannot have hard candies or gum in the party bags. Healthy snacks are preferred. Keep in mind we are a peanut free daycare so nothing with peanuts or peanut content.
3. No cakes or soda allowed. You can only bring in individual juice boxes or pouches and cupcakes.
